3/29/11 - First unexpurgated translation of Violette Leduc's 1940s novel 'Thérèse et Isabelle'

The new UK-based publisher Salammbô Press is to publish Violette Leduc's autobiographical novel Thérèse et Isabellein its first ever complete, uncensored version, by the end of 2011. With its explicit descriptions of Leduc's sexual initiation at her convent school, and with long passages about her love for another girl at the school, this account was left unpublished by Gallimard, from the time of writing in the 1940s until they finally kept their promise to publish in 2000. Now this tour de force of lesbian literature has found its English publisher as well as its translator, Sophie Lewis.
